DemocracyCard.com
overview
I chose the concept of card from the phrase "card carrying member". I want users to explore the labels they use on themselves and the labels the world would give them.
section: Who am I?
Users answer questions to help them narrow down their own beliefs. I want them to see how they differ from the labels they already identify with and introduce them to new ones. And I hope to help them explore more specific labels ("neocon", "Marxist") to promote new "camps" of thought.
section: Who are we?
Understanding your own beliefs is important. When users answer a question, they can see how others who share their labels answered. They can also see those labels that most agree with their choice, inviting them to self-identify with those labels as well. And we can see how diverse certain labels really are.
section: Who are they?
Understanding your own beliefs is important, but it's just as important to properly understand the rational of those who disagree with you. Anyone can define a label, though as a reality-check, expert opinions will be recorded as well. A label is "defined" by a series of questions answered on behalf of a fictional, prototypical member of that label. Then it would be interesting to compare the answers of those who self-identify with the label with those who don't.
section: Who are you?
Users can view detailed comparisons between themselves and other people for the purpose of finding a topic for debate.
section: Challenge and be challenged.
Users can create challenges, which are a series of questions that try to prove a point. Each answer dictates which question will follow (like "20 questions"). The motivation for creating a challenge is to persuade others to agree with you by stepping them through your logical argument.
user contributions
Other than adding to the statistical goodness by simply answering questions, users can create challenges and define labels. Challenges become more popular as more users take them. Labels are instantly ranked based on how accurately they agree with those who self-describe themselves with that label.
